- Base salary $84K-$103K (pro rata)

The Role The ABC is looking for a Digital Journalist to research, write, edit and produce news stories and live blogs for the News website and app.

The Job

- Create and edit articles, blogs and explainers for ABC News.

- Cover breaking news via live blogs and stories.

- Track digital trends and help shape new product strategies.

- Communicate with senior editors and ABC teams.

- Lead shifts, perform final content checks and triage issues.

- Distribute stories via app alerts and curate the website front page.

- Engage communities to find relevant, strategy-aligned stories.

- Produce content reflecting Australia’s cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity.

About You

You'll have

- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.

- Journalism experience and online publishing skills.

- Ability to produce accurate, engaging digital content.

- Experience covering breaking news and live events.

- Understanding of digital technologies, analytics and platforms.

- Robust teamwork and stakeholder communication skills.

- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently.

- Flexibility to work rotating shifts across seven days.

- Passion for diverse Australian stories and ability to build and maintain community contacts.
