We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Eglinton Beach Primary School (PS) opened its doors to the local community of Eglinton in February 2025. It is the first school to open in the suburb of Eglinton and is an inclusive school catering for children from Kindergarten to Year Six with an integrated Education Support program for up to 50 children.

The school caters for the growing community in the Northern Coastal Suburb and focuses on providing a welcoming, caring environment where each child's individual needs are catered for.

Foundation

Principal, Mrs Vanessa Blythe, worked closely with the local community to create the vision for the school - Together we Excel, Forward we Grow.

The Role

As an Education Assistant - Special Needs, you will under teacher direction, assist in the education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Education assistants will assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills including the operation of computers and digital technologies. Within this role, suitable applicants would provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.





Suitable applicants will ideally have a high level of interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students. The desired applicants will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting.

Eligibility To work with us, you must:

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

- A CV of up to three (3) pages outlining your employment history and qualified learning summary relevant to this position; and
- A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students
