As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Officer at Manhari Recycling, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health, safety and environmental compliance of our recycling operations in Tottenham, VIC. This full-time position is essential in upholding our commitment to the wellbeing of our employees and the community we serve.
What you'll be doing
- Work with Management and employees to foster a risk free work place.
- Develop, implement and monitor Environment, Health and Safety and management systems to protect our workforce and the local workplace
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Provide training and support to employees on safety protocols and environmental best practices
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Promote and ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations
- Collaborate with management to continuously improve our HSE performance
- Maintain detailed records and reporting on all HSE activities
What we're looking for
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Relevant experience in a similar HSE role, preferably in the construction or waste management industries
- Thorough understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation, standards and best practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and report-writing abilities
- Proficient in the use of relevant HSE software and data management systems
- Proactive, detail-oriented and committed to continuous improvement
