Primary objective

Under the general direction of the Fleet Officer and relevant remote Health Centre Manager, establish and maintain facility grounds, remove green and general waste from remote clinic campuses and affiliated off-site facilities as required throughout

Central Australia

Key duties and responsibilities

- Establish/maintain the lawns,



gardens and roadways at remote health centres and remote staff accommodation premises in a safe and efficient manner, following a daily task checklist provided by the delegated supervisor.
- Gather and remove refuse and debris around the health centre campus and staff and maintain a clean and environmentally healthy facility, while following Primary Health Care Infection Control guidelines.
- Prune trees and shrubs and remove cuttings and debris, clean assigned concrete areas using high pressure washing equipment in line with scheduled provided by the delegated supervisor.
- Ensure all ground maintenance equipment is operated and maintained to a high standard following a daily equipment check list.
- Assist in transport of equipment, furniture, pharmacy items, stores orders, to and from remote health centres.
- Undertake basic vehicle maintenance such as cleaning, tyre changing, checking tyre pressure, oil and water to ensure vehicle maintenance.
- Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential





- Previous work experience operating a range of ground maintenance equipment such as but not limited to; ride on lawnmowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, whipper snippers, pole saw, air blowers, hand tools and basic small engines maintenance knowledge.
- Good verbal communication skills with all levels of staff and public, with an aptitude to complete work-related forms.
- Previous experience driving 4WD vehicles and currently hold a valid Northern Territory drivers’ licence.
- Be self-motivated and dependable with valuable work ethics, and the ability to use own initiative to problem solve and manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and form effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel to remote areas within Central Australia for periods from one day up to a week at a time.
- Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety practices.

Desirable

- Chainsaw operator ticket or willingness to obtain
