Role Description The Trainee Hardware Technician – Computer & Mobile Device Repair role is a full-time, on-site position based in Albury, NSW. In this role, the trainee will assist with diagnosing hardware and basic software issues in computers, smartphones, and tablets under the guidance of senior technicians. Daily tasks include performing routine inspections, replacing components such as screens, batteries, and peripherals, and preparing devices for return to customers.
The trainee will help maintain a clean and organized workshop, log repairs in internal systems, and follow established procedures for quality, safety, and data privacy.
The position also involves communicating clearly with team members and supporting customer service staff with technical information about ongoing repairs.
Qualifications
- Foundational technical aptitude in computer and mobile hardware, with an interest in learning diagnostics, component replacement, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to follow repair procedures, use hand tools safely, and maintain attention to detail when handling small parts and delicate components.
- Basic understanding of operating systems and common software issues, or a willingness to develop these skills through on-the-job training.
- Strong problem-solving skills, reliability, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a workshop environment.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with colleagues and supporting customer-facing staff.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and complete training related to hardware repair, quality standards, and data protection.
- Any prior experience, coursework, or certification in IT, electronics, or device repair is beneficial but not required.
