On behalf of our client, we are looking for a full-time, experienced Heavy Duty (HD) Diesel Fitter.

The Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter is responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance, inspections, fault diagnosis, and repairs on heavy‑duty mobile plant, machinery, and production equipment used in industrial and operational environments. The role focuses on maintaining plant availability and reliability through planned maintenance and timely response to mechanical failures, in accordance with workplace health and safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute planned and preventative maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules, work instructions, and engineering standards
- Inspect, service, maintain, and repair heavy‑duty mobile plant and equipment, including trucks, loaders, drills, ancillary plant, and production support equipment used in industrial operations
- Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic faults using appropriate diagnostic tools, instruments, and procedures
- Remove, overhaul, repair, or replace mechanical and hydraulic components such as pumps, cylinders, valves, drivetrains, suspensions, braking systems, and structural assemblies
- Perform precision fitting, alignment, and adjustment of components to ensure correct operation and tolerances
- Lubricate machinery and maintain fluid systems in accordance with manufacturer and site requirements
- Respond to plant breakdowns and unplanned maintenance events to restore equipment to operational condition
- Safely use lifting equipment, hydraulic jacks, and workshop machinery to handle large assemblies and components
- Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, defects, or emerging mechanical issues




- Recommend corrective and preventative measures to improve plant reliability and reduce unplanned downtime
- Collaborate with supervisors, planners, and other maintenance personnel to coordinate maintenance activities
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, job reports, and inspection documentation
- Comply with all workplace health and safety, environmental, and quality management systems
- Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident reporting processes

Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing heavy‑duty mobile plant, machinery, and industrial equipment
- Strong mechanical fitting background, with sound knowledge of hydraulics and associated mechanical systems
- Experience diagnosing faults in complex plant and machinery environments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and specifications
- Competence using hand tools, precision measuring equipment, hydraulic testing tools, and workshop machinery
- Solid problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team
- Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with site standards

Qualifications and Requirements

- Recognised trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Fitter, or equivalent engineering trade
- Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent
- Relevant high‑risk work licences or plant tickets (desirable)
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to meet site medical and fitness‑for‑work requirements
- Commitment to complying with WHS, environmental, and quality systems

Salary range: $85,000 to $110,000 per annum excluding superannuation.

This is a full time role.
