Our client is a highly respected, rapidly growing national provider of in-home care, Supported Independent Living (SIL), community services, and clinical nursing. With a diverse national workforce, they are dedicated to equipping their staff with the very best training and development. To lead this critical function, they are seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Learning & Development to join their high-performing senior leadership team in either Sydney or Melbourne.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chief Clinical & Compliance Officer, this is a senior leadership role with full national oversight of the learning and development strategy. You will translate broad corporate strategy into disciplined operational training pathways across all service streams, including clinical nursing, disability support, aged care, and corporate teams.
This role offers a unique balance of strategic design and clinical governance, ensuring the workforce is highly capable, strictly compliant, and aligned with Aged Care Standards, National Quality Standards, and NDIS guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- National L&D; Strategy: Design and execute a modern national training strategy, establishing structured architectures for induction, mandatory training, role-based capability uplift, and leadership development.
- Compliance & Quality Integration: Maintain exceptional compliance standards, aiming to keep mandatory training and credential completion rates above 95% across the workforce. Partner with the Quality and Risk teams to translate clinical incidents, complaints, and audit findings into proactive training interventions.
- Cutting-edge Blended Learning & Digital Enablement: Oversee the delivery of engaging, blended learning solutions tailored to the operational realities of frontline staff. Drive efficiency by leveraging modern learning technology, LMS automation, and digital tools to reduce manual administrative processes.
- RTO & Internal Governance: Provide governance over internal learning frameworks and the organisation’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO) status to ensure continuous alignment with external regulatory benchmarks.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a dedicated L&D; team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, safety, and mutual accountability.
What We Are Looking For To be considered for this high-impact role, you must bring:
- Clinical Foundation: A tertiary qualification in Nursing (or delegated clinical capability) is essential.
- Professional Qualifications: A tertiary degree in Education, Training, Human Resources, Health, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications in leadership, education, or organisational development are highly regarded.
- Industry Expertise: Strong experience managing L&D; portfolios within highly regulated sectors (such as aged care, disability, or healthcare) and familiarity with RTO compliance.
- Required Clearances & Compliance:
- Valid National Police Check & NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
- Working with Children Check (where applicable).
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and up-to-date immunisation compliance.
- Full unrestricted right to work in Australia.
