HR Coordinator (People Operations)

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The HR Coordinator (People Operations) is a key member of the People & Culture team, reporting to the

Deputy Head People & Culture.

The role is responsible for the efficient, accurate and compliant delivery of core People & Culture operations and services across the employee lifecycle. As the central coordination point for People & Culture administration, the position supports recruitment, onboarding, employment documentation, compliance,

workforce administration and employee enquiries, ensuring a positive experience for staff and leaders.

The HR Coordinator partners closely with the HR Business Partners, enabling them to focus on strategic workforce planning, leadership support, culture and employee relations by providing high-quality operational delivery and administrative excellence.

The role also provides continuity of People & Culture service delivery during periods of Business Partner leave, vacancy or peak workload by supporting routine people matters, responding to leader enquiries within established frameworks and ensuring timely resolution of operational issues.

Operating as a visible and trusted member of the People & Culture team, the role contributes to an environment where staff feel supported, valued and connected, consistent with the Christian ethos and values of Barker College.

The role contributes to continuous improvement of People & Culture systems, processes and service delivery, helping ensure People & Culture remains efficient, responsive and future focused across the

School.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Operations & Administration

- Manage the HR and Employment inbox, act as the first point of contact for routine People & Culture

enquiries.
- Flag any complex matters with the appropriate HRBP.
- Provide timely guidance on People & Culture processes, systems and procedures.
- Coordinate People & Culture correspondence and documentation.
- Maintain and improve HR systems and databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Support payroll integrity through accurate and timely provision of employment information.
- Coordinate probation review reminders, contract renewals and employee lifecycle milestones.
- Maintain and improve workflow management systems and monitor completion of People & Culture

tasks.
- Ensure all interactions reflect the HR and Barker College values.

People & Culture

Recruitment, Onboarding and Employee Lifecycle

- Partner with the HRBP to coordinate end-to-end recruitment administration, including advertising,

interview scheduling, candidate communications, reference checking and pre-employment compliance.

- Support the Talent Management Teams and HR Business Partners throughout recruitment

processes to ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Manage employee lifecycle administration including onboarding documents, employment contracts,

onboarding training, Working with Children Checks, teacher accreditation, transfers, contract variations, leave related administration and offboarding.




- Entering new starter information into Payroll.
- Coordinate onboarding and induction activities for new employees.
- Provide feedback on process improvement opportunities for the employment lifecycle process.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and personnel files.
- Monitor completion of mandatory compliance requirements and employment documentation.

Business Partner Support & Portfolio Coverage

- Build an understanding of People & Culture portfolios and workforce priorities to support continuity of

service delivery.
- Provide operational support to HR Business Partners across recruitment, workforce administration

and employee lifecycle activities.
- Provide continuity of service during periods of Business Partner leave, vacancy or peak workload by

supporting routine people matters and responding to leader enquiries within established frameworks.
- Assist leaders with routine employment and policy enquiries, escalating matters requiring strategic

advice, specialist expertise or greater risk assessment.
- Support the administration and coordination of performance management, employee relations and

workplace matters under the guidance of the relevant HR Business Partner or Deputy Head People

& Culture.

- Attend meetings with leaders and staff, as required, to support People & Culture initiatives and

operational matters.
- Maintain awareness of key workforce issues, priorities and activities across assigned portfolios.

Compliance & Governance

- Ensure employment documentation meets legislative, regulatory and policy requirements.
- Support compliance activities relating to Working with Children Checks, teacher accreditation, visa

requirements and other employment related obligations.
- Maintain HR compliance registers and reporting requirements.
- Assist with audits and compliance reviews.
- Support implementation and monitoring of People & Culture policies, procedures and standards.
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy obligations are maintained at all times.

Casual Staff & Workforce Coordination

- Coordinate administration associated with casual and temporary staffing arrangements.
- Assist in maintaining casual staffing records and workforce availability records.
- Support workforce planning activities through accurate record keeping and reporting.
- Liaise with managers and Business Partners regarding staffing requirements and workforce

movements.

People & Culture

Team Contribution

- Work collaboratively with HR Business Partners, the People Strategy & Analytics and other members of the People & Culture team.

- Provide operational support across all People & Culture portfolios as required.




- Assist with School wide initiatives, events and People & Culture programs.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative, high performing and service-oriented team culture.
- Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as determined by the Deputy Head People &

Culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience of up to 2 – 3 years in human resources administration, coordination or

advisory roles, with exposure to recruitment, employee relations, workforce administration and employment legislation.
- Experience working within a complex organisation with multiple stakeholders desirable.
- Experience within an education environment desirable.
