Role Description The Local Government Regulatory Subject Matter Expert will provide in-depth expertise on local government regulatory frameworks, policies, and compliance requirements, with a focus on supporting ITANZ’s solutions for council and utilities clients in Australia. This on-site role, based in Australia, involves working closely with client executives, IT teams, and operational staff to interpret regulations, align technology solutions with statutory obligations, and ensure that system configurations support accurate reporting and decision-making. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing regulatory changes, translating complex requirements into practical business and system rules, reviewing solution designs and documentation, and participating in workshops,



training sessions, and stakeholder meetings.

The expert will contribute to project scoping, risk assessments, and implementation plans, and will help develop best-practice processes that enhance compliance, transparency, and service delivery. This position may also support pre-sales and thought leadership activities by preparing regulatory insights, case studies, and guidance materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of Australian local government legislation, regulations, and policy frameworks, with experience applying them in operational or technology contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into clear business processes, system rules, and data/reporting specifications.
- Experience working with or alongside local councils, utilities, or public-sector entities, ideally in regulatory, compliance, governance, or policy roles.
- Competence in stakeholder engagement, including facilitating workshops, gathering requirements, and communicating complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, EAM, or data platforms) and an understanding of how integrated solutions support compliance and executive visibility.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and a structured approach to reviewing regulations and system impacts.
- Ability to work in office in Australia, collaborate within cross-functional teams, and adapt to changing regulatory and project environments.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Public Policy, Governance
