Hutchinson Ag is a family run mixed farming business located on the Dawson River, 25 km from Moura or 200 kms south west of Rockhampton QLD. Our business is of 8258 Ha over 4 farms and has been rapidly expanding over the past 10 years. Some 2200 Ha is under irrigation and further large-scale irrigation development is being undertaken.

Currently the irrigation cropping, is principally cotton and depending on season, grain crops of corn, chickpea, wheat and mung beans. Alongside of this we run a 1,100 breeder herd of Droughtmaster / Santa beef cattle crossed with Angus and Charolais. The combination of crops and cattle provides a diverse range of duties from irrigation development to crop and cattle production.

We are proud of our collaborative, innovative workplace utilising up-to-date machinery, equipment and techniques to develop new irrigation fields for production of high quality crops. Hutchinson Ag is a Best Management Practice (BMP} accredited farm. We work with the local school in promoting and introducing students to irrigation development and cotton farming.

We are looking for multiple full-time Mechanical Engineering Technicians (up to 3) to help take the business to the next level. Salary being offered is between $95,000 for a 45-hour work week, depending on experience and skill. Accommodation of farm is available as part of the employment package.

Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Engineering Technicians undertake work on Agricultural equipment in which assembly, field servicing and repairs are required.

Tasks as follows:





· Assist the Farm Manager with machinery and equipment maintenance across the operations, ensuring operations run smoothly and efficiently

· Assembling, modifying, installing and maintaining machinery/equipment/plants per manuals, plans or designs as required for the purposes of Hutchinson Ag’s operations

· Ensuring maintenance, assembly, installation work are completed within manufacturer specifications, in line with Australian standards and regulations, and meeting Hutchinson Ag’s operational priorities esp during critical seasons.

· Maintaining records on maintenance schedules, keeping records of performance and effectiveness of machinery/equipment/plants, and reporting to Management in relation to data collected with suggestions and solutions to increase productivity.

· Applying mechanical engineering principles in conducting inspections, running tests and undertaking maintenance to ensure minimal downtime esp critical seasons.

· Priorising preventative maintenance efforts to ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency.

· Supervising and training staff in maintenance work and proper operation of machinery/equipment/plants, including ensuring work completed is within safety requirements

· Ensure machinery machinery/equipment/plants are operated/utilised appropriately and fit for purpose based on manufacturer specifications, Australian standards and regulations, and Hutchinson Ag’s policies.

Experience Required:

- At least 3 years’ experience
