Headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, Sandfire’s Projects and Studies team supports our global Asset portfolio, including our success story in Botswana, the 5.6Mtpa Motheo Copper Mine and the exciting partnership with Havilah Resources to advance the Kalkaroo Copper-Gold Project in South Australia.

The Projects & Studies team is seeking an experienced Project Engineer who will be responsible for providing engineering support and oversight across the full project lifecycle, from design through to commissioning and handover. This position interacts with multi-disciplinary teams from Sandfire’s operations, contractors and consultants across various projects and studies to ensure they are delivered safely and on time.

Key Responsibilities – From

- Assist in the planning, estimation, design, and execution of mining infrastructure projects.

- Work with internal stakeholders, site operations, consultants and contractors to confirm project requirements, resolve interface issues and support aligned project delivery.

- Review and contribute to engineering deliverables, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure they are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

- Support the development of scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and procurement packages.

- Provide technical and coordination support to site personnel, contractors and consultants during project delivery, construction, commissioning and handover, including resolving technical issues and driving project delivery.

- Coordinate equipment procurement activities, including tenders and contract award,



ensuring required information is received by the Commercial team and that procurement records are handed over and filed appropriately.

- Participate in site visits, inspections, and coordination meetings to resolve technical and construction issues.

- Manage engineering risks across all project phases and ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation and company governance requirements.

- Prepare data analysis and supporting commentary for monthly project reporting, including progress, cost, schedule and risk information as required.

About You

- A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

- 10 years of experience delivering capital projects in heavy industrial settings, mining and construction.

- Experience supporting feasibility studies, detailed design, and project execution.

- Delivered projects from within owner side project teams

- Solid understanding of construction methodologies and site operations.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and culturally different teams.

- Horizontal Adaptability – able to shift focus or changing tasks smoothly when environment or project needs change.
