Project Managers plan and manage the delivery of ICT projects.
Key duties and responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Leading the delivery of the Payroll Remediation Program, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time and within scope.
- Managing project plans, schedules, budgets, risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Coordinating cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, ICT, vendors, and business and external stakeholders.
- Overseeing payroll remediation activities, system improvements, and process enhancements.
- Establishing and maintaining effective governance, reporting, and assurance arrangements.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, industrial instruments, and audit requirements.
- Monitoring project performance and providing regular updates to senior executives and governance forums.
- Managing stakeholder engagement, communications, and change management activities.
- Driving risk identification, mitigation strategies, and issue resolution.
- Coordinating testing, validation, and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and sustainable outcomes.
- Managing vendor and contractor performance and delivery obligations.
- Embedding continuous improvement and supporting the transition to sustainable payroll operations.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support business areas with scoping, planning, and prioritisation of digital and ICT initiatives aligned to organisational strategies.
- Provide explicit, timely, and accurate advice on progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and technical considerations to stakeholders and governance forums.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate project and technical documentation, including plans, designs, risk registers, change records, and implementation artefacts.
- Prepare and deliver regular status reports, briefings, and updates to the Contract Manager and relevant governance bodies at agreed intervals (e.g. weekly).
- Contribute to assurance, audit, and reporting activities as required.
Technical skills
Certification or demonstrated experience in project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile). Experience delivering payroll remediation and transformation projects. Knowledge of payroll systems (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors, Aurion, Chris21, Workday). Understanding of payroll compliance, awards, enterprise agreements,
and Fair Work requirements. Experience in payroll data analysis, reconciliation, testing, and reporting.

To support this mandate, NEMA is delivering a number of critical technology-enabled programs and projects that require strong business architecture and business analysis capability to ensure initiatives are well defined, fit for purpose and deliver value for money.

Essential criteria
- 1.1. Service Provider’s demonstrated understanding of the Services required, including the identification of any key challenges and the management of risk.
- 2.2. Service Provider’s demonstrated capability and capacity to provide the services described in the Detailed Statement of Work to a very high standard and within the specified timeframes.
- 3.3. Relevant experience of nominated Key Personnel in providing the similar services to the services described in the Detailed Statement of Work.
- 4.4. Professional and other standards that the Service Provider would apply to the Services and the measures the Service Provider proposes to ensure that standards are maintained for the term of the Contract.
- 5.5. Extent to which the level and structure of fees proposed provides value for money for the Australian Government.
- 6.6. Proven ability to manage transition of ICT solutions to business-as-usual (BAU) operations, including handover, documentation, and support arrangements
