The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Quality Specialist to join our Port Melbourne site on a 12-month maternity leave contract. Reporting to the Quality & Environment Manager, you will play a key role in driving food safety, quality, compliance, and environmental performance across manufacturing operations. Working closely with Production, Operations and cross-functional teams, you will lead quality investigations, support audit readiness, manage HACCP and environmental monitoring programs, and help foster a strong quality culture across the site.

Our Port Melbourne site is not only the home of Vegemite; it is also the home of other Australian iconic products, such as Bega Peanut Butter, Bega Simply Nuts, Zoosh. VEGEMITE has been proudly made in Port Melbourne, Australia since 1923.

Responsibilities

- Act as the quality lead for manufacturing operations, managing quality incidents, investigations, CAPAs and compliance activities
- Maintain HACCP, environmental monitoring, pathogen management and product testing programs
- Conduct quality inspections, CCP/QCP verification, hygiene assessments and process audits
- Support internal, customer and third-party audits while maintaining QMS compliance and audit readiness
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical guidance to strengthen food safety and quality culture

About you

- Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology,



Microbiology, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in Quality Assurance within a food manufacturing, FMCG, or related manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, food safety systems, quality management standards, and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience supporting audits and maintaining compliance in a hands-on, proactive environment
