The Role
As Senior Communications Manager, you’ll help deliver Sharon AI’s external communications program, with a strong focus on proactive media relations, high-quality copywriting and the execution of corporate communications strategy and plans.
Reporting to the Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs, you’ll support activity across corporate, technology, financial and trade media, partnering with Investor Relations, Marketing and other internal teams to deliver integrated campaigns, and manage day-to-day media monitoring, reporting and insights using platforms including Meltwater and Telum.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced communications professional who combines strong media instincts and excellent writing skills with sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to deliver at pace in a fast-growing, listed technology business.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute Sharon AI’s external communications strategy and plans under the direction of the Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate, technology, financial, trade and other relevant media
- Develop proactive media approaches, story angles, pitches and briefing materials aligned with business priorities and the broader news agenda
- Manage day-to-day media enquiries and support spokespeople with clear, accurate and timely materials
- Draft, edit and proofread high-quality communications content, including media releases, statements, Q&As;, briefing documents, executive talking points and social content
- Translate complex AI, cloud, infrastructure, financial and corporate information into accessible,
audience-led narratives without compromising accuracy
- Support media briefings, interviews, events and announcements, including preparation, logistics, follow-up and evaluation
- Partner with Investor Relations and Marketing to plan and deliver integrated campaigns across earned, owned and stakeholder channels
- Coordinate with executives, subject-matter experts and external advisers to gather information, manage approvals and ensure message consistency
- Monitor the media and broader issues landscape using Meltwater, Telum and other sources to identify emerging opportunities and reputational risks
- Produce regular media monitoring reports, coverage analysis and actionable insights for executives and internal stakeholders
- Maintain communications tools and resources, including media lists, forward-planning calendars, messaging documents and content pipelines
- Support issues and crisis communications activity as required, including rapid research, drafting, monitoring and stakeholder coordination
Skills & Experience
- Approximately 7+ years’ experience in media relations, corporate communications, public relations or a related discipline, gained in-house, in an agency or through a combination of both
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing proactive media relations programs and securing high-quality coverage
- Strong news judgement and a practical understanding of how Australian media operates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and content for media, investors, customers, partners and other stakeholders
- A strong portfolio of corporate and media writing across a range of formats and audiences
- High attention to detail, including robust editing, proofreading and fact-checking capability
- Sound judgement and discretion when handling confidential, market-sensitive or reputationally significant information
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work with senior executives and technical subject-matter experts
- Experience supporting integrated communications campaigns in partnership with marketing, investor relations or other business functions
- Experience producing media monitoring, coverage reporting and communications insights
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
Experience in technology, AI, cloud, digital infrastructure, data centres, telecommunications, financial services or another complex B2B sector is highly desirable, as is experience working in or supporting a listed company. Established relationships with Australian business, technology, financial or trade media, and experience with Meltwater and Telum or comparable media intelligence platforms, are highly desirable.
