The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance, with a proven track record of managing complex financial operations. This role is crucial to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial accounting, reporting and strategic financial planning. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available for the right candidate.
What you’ll be doing
Month-End & Financial Reporting
- Complete pre- and post-month-end accounting processes for all entities.
- Prepare and post various accounting journal entries.
- Coordinate the month-end close process in the absence of the Finance Manager.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to maintain the integrity of financial reporting and support strategic decision-making.
Asset, Leasing & Provision Accounting
- Prepare and maintain fixed asset registers and leasing schedules.
- Prepare income and expense accruals, prepayments, and expected credit loss provisions.
Tax Compliance
- Prepare monthly payroll tax journals and payments across all states.
- Prepare monthly business activity statements (BAS) including GST and PAYG.
- Complete annual payroll tax reconciliations.
- Assist with annual FBT returns.
Securitisation Trust Accounting
- Complete securitisation trust accounting, including journals and reconciliations.
Accounts Payable & Treasury Oversight
- Review bank reconciliations and accounts payable invoices.
- Approve payment runs in accordance with company procedures.
Audit & Compliance Support
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements including the preparation of annual financial statements.
- Assist with preparation of Payment Times Reporting lodgements.
Process Improvement, Business Support & Projects
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and controls.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to support operational and financial objectives.
- Project work including sustainability reporting and assistance with the automation of accounts payable, reconciliations etc.
What we are looking for
We're seeking an experienced financial accounting professional with a minimum of five years' experience, ideally gained within the banking or financial services industry. However, candidates with substantial financial accounting experience from other sectors are also encouraged to apply.
You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and preferably be CPA or CA qualified (or have completed your certification).
The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in accounting systems (preferably TechnologyOne), exceptional attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy are essential. You will also have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
This role includes responsibility for one direct report, so we are seeking someone who is confident and comfortable in a people management capacity. The successful candidate will be able to effectively mentor, support, and develop their team member, fostering growth, performance,
and engagement through clear guidance, regular feedback, and a collaborative approach.
