NLR Restoration
Murarrie
We’re looking for a leader who still knows how to get their hands dirty.
At NLR Restorations, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Restoration Technician / Project Manager to join our Brisbane team.
We’re not looking for someone who simply wants to sit behind a desk and tell everyone else what to do.
We want someone who can lead from the front.
Someone who can walk onto a water, fire or mould job, assess the situation, develop the plan, communicate confidently with the client and then help the team deliver the result.
You’ll need a minimum of four years’ hands-on experience in the restoration industry, along with the maturity and attitude to lead, mentor and develop the people around you.
What you’ll be doing
This is a genuine hybrid Project Manager / Senior Technician position. You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing restoration projects from initial assessment through to completion.
- Leading, supporting and mentoring our restoration technicians.
- Completing desktop quotes, scopes, reports and project documentation.
- Conducting site inspections and assessments.
- Managing water damage, structural drying, mould and other restoration projects.
- Managing labour, equipment and project requirements.
- Monitoring jobs and ensuring they progress through to completion.
- Ensuring photographs, moisture readings, reports and other documentation are completed properly.
- Helping technicians solve problems in the field.
- Maintaining high standards around safety, workmanship and customer service.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing NLR clients.
- Developing trust with builders, insurers, loss adjusters, facility managers, property managers and other industry partners.
- Following up with clients throughout and after projects — not simply completing the job and moving on.
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen existing accounts and generate repeat business.
- Representing NLR professionally at client meetings, site inspections and industry events when required.
- Working with management to identify potential new business opportunities.
- And when the situation calls for it, rolling up your sleeves and working alongside the team. What we’re looking for
You’ll need:
- Minimum four years’ restoration industry experience.
- Relevant IICRC certifications — WRT and additional restoration/remediation qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Current White Card.
- Current Blue Card, or ability to obtain one.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- Strong knowledge of water damage restoration and structural drying.
- Experience with mould remediation and complex restoration projects.
- Experience preparing desktop quotes, scopes and reports.
- Experience leading or supervising technicians.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong communication and client relationship skills.
- Good computer and administration skills.
- A willingness to remain hands-on in the field when required.
The person matters to us
Experience and qualifications are important.
But so are character, attitude, accountability and work ethic.
We want someone our technicians will respect because you’ve actually done the work yourself.
Someone who doesn’t walk past a problem because it’s “someone else’s job.”
Someone who can have a difficult conversation when necessary but can also put an arm around a younger technician and help them become better at what they do.
And there’s another important part of this position.
We’re looking for someone who understands that being a great Project Manager isn’t only about completing the job.
It’s about the relationship you leave behind.
We want our clients to trust you, remember you and hopefully ask for you by name the next time they need NLR.
Great technical work gets the job completed.
Outstanding relationships help build the business.
Why NLR?
NLR is a family-owned restoration business with more than 20 years of experience.
We’re large enough to provide genuine opportunities, specialist resources and interesting projects, but we’re still a business where people know each other and your contribution matters.
Through the broader NLR Group, our capabilities extend across restoration, indoor environmental consulting and laboratory services, specialist equipment, and contents cleaning, restoration and storage.
We’re continuing to grow, and we want experienced people who want to grow with us.
One important thing...
If you’re looking for a Project Manager position where you can spend every day behind a desk, this probably isn’t the role for you.
But if you can manage the job, write the quote, lead the people, build the client relationship and still jump into the field when your team needs you, we’d really like to meet you.
Sometimes the best way to lead isn’t telling someone what to do.
It’s standing beside them and showing them.
If that sounds like you, apply through SEEK and tell us a little about yourself, your restoration experience and why you think you’d be a good fit for the NLR team.
