FIRST NATIONS CLINICIAN

Are you passionate about making a genuine difference? Chatr is seeking a passionate First Nations Clinician to join our multidisciplinary allied health team.

This is an opportunity to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants experiencing complex barriers to wellbeing, independence and employment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is more than a traditional counselling role. Our clinicians combine therapeutic intervention, advocacy, case management and practical support to help participants overcome challenges including:

- Mental health concerns
- Alcohol and other drug use
- Domestic and family violence
- Housing instability
- Financial hardship
- Other psychosocial barriers

Working within a short-term intervention model, you'll deliver focused, high-impact support that empowers participants to overcome barriers, strengthen their wellbeing and move towards sustainable employment outcomes.

No two days are the same. One session may focus on emotional wellbeing and coping strategies, while the next could involve housing advocacy, safety planning, service coordination or helping someone reconnect with community and build confidence for employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed therapeutic interventions
- Provide counselling, behavioural interventions, advocacy and case management
- Support participants experiencing complex psychosocial barriers
- Develop practical strategies that strengthen resilience, emotional wellbeing and independence
- Work collaboratively with Employment Consultants, community organisations and external services to coordinate participant support
- Complete comprehensive clinical assessments, case notes and outcome reports in accordance with professional and organisational standards
- Maintain a participant-centred approach focused on building confidence,



reducing barriers and supporting sustainable employment outcomes

ABOUT YOU

You are passionate about improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and bring both clinical expertise and a strengths-based approach to your work.

You'll have

- Qualifications in Social Work, Counselling or Behavioural Therapy
- Current skilled membership or accreditation (AASW, ACA, PACFA or equivalent where applicable)
- Experience supporting people experiencing complex psychosocial barriers
- Sound knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally safe and strengths-based practice
- Excellent communication, advocacy and case management skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive multidisciplinary team
- A current Australian Driver Licence and willingness to travel within the local region as required

Chatr is a leading allied health provider delivering therapeutic support within Employment Services across Australia. Our multidisciplinary team of Social Workers, Counsellors and Behavioural Therapists provides short-term, evidence-based interventions that help participants overcome barriers to wellbeing, independence and employment.

Rather than providing long-term therapy, our clinicians deliver focused, outcome-driven support that combines counselling, behavioural interventions, advocacy and coordinated case management. We work alongside Employment Consultants and community services to ensure participants receive holistic, person-centred support that creates meaningful and lasting change.

ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER IDENTIFIED ROLE

Pay: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
