HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an prospect to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their home.
As a pastoral care volunteer, you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church, offering comfort, presence, and hope to those who need it most.
At 100 years of age, this lovely lady continues to live at home and would value the company of a caring pastoral care volunteer. She would enjoy weekly visits filled with conversation, friendship, kindness and spiritual connection.
A gentle presence, a listening ear and time spent together can bring comfort, companionship and meaning to her week.
You’ll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
- Support people to meet their spiritual needs
- Nurture spiritual development
Skills required for this role:
- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
Your impact
Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, ideally we are seeking a weekly visitor.
