Role Overview

As the Maintenance Manager / Mobile Plant Mechanic you will be the technical backbone of a large-scale, multi-site farming operation across Western Australia. You are responsible for the uptime and performance of a diverse, high-tech fleet. From autonomous robotic sprayers to heavy-duty earthmoving gear, your expertise ensures our operations run at 90% capacity year-round.

Key Responsibilities

- High-Level Diagnostics & Repair: Lead complex troubleshooting on CAN BUS systems, electrical harnesses, and high-pressure hydraulics.
- Major Mechanical Overhauls: Perform engine valve adjustments, camshaft replacements, and full engine rebuilds on large-scale agricultural and earthmoving machinery.
- Supply Chain & Procurement: Manage the ordering of parts and workshop consumables from suppliers in Esperance, ensuring stock levels are maintained to prevent repair delays.
- Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for machinery companies and local suppliers, fostering professional relationships to ensure priority support and reliable parts supply.
- Fleet Record Keeping: Maintain a meticulous digital and physical record of the entire machinery fleet, including detailed service histories and upcoming maintenance schedules.
- Workshop Standards: Take pride in the facility by keeping the workshop highly organised, clean, and safe at all times.
- Operational Readiness: Ensure all machinery is "mission-ready" for critical seeding, spraying, and harvest windows.

Technical Fleet Requirements

You will be expected to have deep technical familiarity with:

- Harvesting: Claas Lexion 8600/8700 Trac series and Tru-Fab chaser bins.
- Spraying: Autonomous technology (SwarmBot 5), Agrifac (CE02), and John Deere (616R).
- Tractors & Seeding: John Deere 8R/9RX series, Claas Xerion/Axion, and Bourgault/Horsch/Seed Hawk air seeders.
- Earthmoving: Hitachi ZW370 loaders, CAT 12M graders, and JCB telehandlers.

Qualifications & Skills

- Qualifications: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) or similar training.
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- Experience: Proven track record as a Senior Diesel Mechanic or Workshop Manager, specifically within broadacre agriculture or heavy plant industries.
- Technical Mastery: Advanced skills in hydraulic fault-finding and electronic system diagnostics (CAN BUS).
- Logistical Mindset: Ability to manage inventory and coordinate with suppliers in the Esperance region.
- Professionalism: Solid communication skills to maintain critical industry partnerships.

Why This Role Matters

This role is central to mitigating the risks associated with machinery downtime. Given the scale of our operations, your technical leadership directly influences our bottom line by preventing delays and ensuring equipment longevity. You are the key driver in maintaining a high-performance fleet that meets the demanding requirements of our year-round agricultural and earthmoving schedules.
