Get First Aid (GFA) is a growing provider of professional event medical services across Australia.

As part of our continued growth in the ACT, we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Event Medics to join our team.

We are currently recruiting:

- First-year Bachelor of Paramedicine students

- Second-year Bachelor of Paramedicine students

- Third-year Bachelor of Paramedicine students

- Australian Paramedical College (APC) students

- Students completing a Diploma of Emergency Health Care or equivalent qualification

Our team provides medical coverage at major sporting events, festivals, concerts, government activations, community events and large public gatherings throughout Canberra and the surrounding region.

Successful applicants will be joining a team that provides medical services to hundreds of events each year across the ACT and NSW.

What you’ll work at

As part of the GFA team, you may provide medical coverage at:

- Major sporting events

- Festivals and concerts

- Government events

- Community festivals

- Fun runs and endurance events

- Cycling events

- Motorsport events

- Family and public entertainment events

No two shifts are the same, giving you exposure to a wide variety of patients, environments and clinical presentations.

About the role

As an Event Medic, you’ll help deliver protected, professional and patient-centred medical care across a wide range of events.

Depending on your qualifications and experience, duties may include:





- Patient assessment

- First aid and emergency care

- Patient observations and monitoring

- Clinical documentation

- Assisting senior clinicians

- Working alongside ambulance services and other emergency agencies when required

- Communicating with event organisers

- Participating in operational briefings and debriefs

All clinical care is delivered within your qualifications, training, scope of practice and the Get First Aid Clinical Governance Framework.

This is a casual role, with most shifts occurring on weekends, public holidays and during peak event periods.

Previous event medical experience is not essential.

Essential requirements

Applicants must:

- Be currently studying a Bachelor of Paramedicine, Diploma of Emergency Health Care or equivalent qualification

- Hold or be willing to obtain a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration

- Hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Check

- Have reliable transport

- Be available for weekend and event-based work

- Be willing to complete GFA induction and onboarding

Successful applicants must also hold or be willing to obtain:

- HLTAID014 – Advanced First Aid

- HLTAID015 – Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy

- Spinal Management

- Provide Pain Management

Training may be available for suitable applicants.

The recruitment process may require a half-day or full-day commitment.
