We are currently seeking multiple experienced Database Administrator Experts to join a major Federal Government program supporting large-scale, mission-critical digital services.

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting prospect to join a highly specialised technical team responsible for administering and supporting complex enterprise database environments. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, security and ongoing evolution of critical infrastructure supporting essential government services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, administration, patching, troubleshooting and performance tuning of a custom-built, pre-release non-relational database. You will also contribute to database migration activities, infrastructure design, disaster recovery planning and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

As the Database Administrator Expert, you will:

- Install, configure, maintain and upgrade enterprise database environments.

- Administer database configurations, schemas, security and database objects.

- Schedule and manage database software upgrades to maintain supported environments.

- Lead the implementation of database access controls and security measures.

- Monitor database performance and implement optimisation strategies.

- Troubleshoot complex database and infrastructure issues.

- Support migration and infrastructure modernisation activities.

- Manage data loading, maintenance and distribution processes.

- Plan and execute backup,



recovery and disaster recovery activities.

- Provide expert technical advice and collaborate with engineers, architects and key stakeholders to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions.

Skills & Experience

To be successful, you will demonstrate experience in several of the following:

- Enterprise Database Administration

- Linux and Red Hat

- DevSecOps practices

- OpenShift

- OpenStack

- GitLab

- Ansible

- Mainframe Operations

- ISPF / TSO

- Control-M

- Job Control Language (JCL)

- REXX

- Bash, Shell, Python, Perl or other scripting languages

- COBOL

- Assembler

- JavaScript / TypeScript

- Google V8 Engine

- Google Protocol Buffers

Highly Desirable

Experience with one or more of the following will be highly regarded:

- M204 database administration

- IBM z/OS database or file management

- Non-relational database platforms

- Containerised Linux environments

What You'll Bring

You will possess:

- Demonstrated experience administering complex database management systems.

- Experience working within highly specialised technical engineering teams.

- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

- A collaborative approach with the ability to work independently on complex technical initiatives.

Contract Details

- Initial 12-month contract

- Extension options available up to an additional 24 months

- Locations: Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide

- Hybrid working arrangement

- Full-time onsite during the first six weeks, with a hybrid arrangement available thereafter (minimum three days per week onsite)

- Australian Citizenship is mandatory

- Must currently hold a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance
