Company Description In-Sight Vision Therapy enhances quality of life and independence through a holistic, evidence-based approach to vision rehabilitation for people living with vision loss. The team focuses on optimizing functional vision, confidence, and social inclusion by building on each individual’s existing abilities rather than emphasizing limitations. Services include comprehensive low vision assessments, personalized therapy, and interventions for people of all ages, including verbal and non-verbal clients. The clinic provides neurological functional vision assessments for individuals with conditions such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, neurodivergent conditions, acquired brain injury, stroke, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and other genetic disorders, as well as support for CVI diagnosis and individualized plans. In-Sight Vision Therapy also offers assistive technology and low vision aids trials and collaborates closely with families, therapists, schools, and employers to support success in everyday environments.Role Description The Orthoptist (Low Vision Rehabilitation) will provide part-time, in office services at In-Sight Vision Therapy in Perth, WA. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting comprehensive low vision and functional vision assessments, developing individualized rehabilitation plans, and delivering one-on-one and small-group therapy sessions for clients with a range of ocular and neurological conditions. The role involves trialing and recommending low vision aids and assistive technologies, documenting clinical findings, and monitoring progress using evidence-based tools.



The Orthoptist will collaborate with families, carers, therapists, educators, and employers to coordinate support plans and promote functional outcomes in home, school, and workplace settings. Additional tasks may include contributing to service development, participating in interdisciplinary case discussions, and supporting client education and advocacy.Qualifications Formal qualification in Orthoptics, Optometry, or a related vision science field, with eligibility for relevant professional registration or membership.Experience in low vision rehabilitation, including assessment and management of individuals with visual impairment and complex neurological conditions.Strong clinical skills in functional vision assessment, intervention planning, and documentation using evidence-based practices.Ability to work effectively with children and adults, including verbal and non-verbal clients, using person-centered and trauma-informed approaches.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with families, multidisciplinary teams, schools, and employers.Proficiency in using and recommending assistive technology and low vision aids, and willingness to stay current with emerging tools and research.High level of professional integrity, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to non-discriminatory, inclusive practice.Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a part-time caseload and adapt to changing clinical needs.Current working rights in Australia; relevant clearances (e.g., Working With Children
