As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to develop their career while supporting the financial operations of a dynamic and growing business.
About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will assist with the day-to-day accounting and financial functions of the business. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, meet reporting deadlines and contribute to the ongoing success of the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Assist with month-end and year-end reporting processes.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and FBT returns.
- Coordinate the annual audit and liaise with external accountants.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Assist in preparing cash flow reports and financial information for management review
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial projections.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements and company policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and processes.
- Provide support and guidance to junior administrative and finance staff as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
· Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
· CPA or CA qualification (or currently studying towards one) will be highly regarded.
· Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience within construction, mining or contracting industries (highly regarded).
- Robust knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax legislation.
- Experience processing payroll and managing end-to-end finance functions.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using Viewpoint Vista (highly desirable).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
