Financial Officer – Heavy Duty Mechanical Workshop

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Expected Salary: $130,000 – $140,000

PMM is looking for a commercially minded, hands-on Financial Officer to join our leadership team in Welshpool. This is not your typical role hidden away in spreadsheets all day. You'll be a key advisor to the business, working directly with the Owner and General Manager to help steer the company's growth, profitability and global operations.

We're a fast-moving business with operations and trading activities that extend beyond Australia, so you'll need to be comfortable thinking both locally and globally.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll take ownership of all financial functions across the business, including:

- Leading the overall financial strategy and performance of PMM

- Providing commercial and strategic financial advice to the Owner and General Manager

- Supporting the Management Team as well as the Accounts & Admin Department

- Managing cash flow, working capital, financing arrangements

- Regular reporting on current workflow performance

- Building strong relationships with banks, lenders and external advisors

- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and financial planning

- Delivering accurate and timely monthly management reporting

- Managing all payroll functions for approximately 100 employees

- Ensuring compliance with Australian taxation and reporting obligations

- Managing ATO compliance, BAS, payroll tax and other statutory requirements

- Overseeing labour hire, equipment hire and workshop invoicing and billing

- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements

- Supporting national & international trade activities,



import/export financial processes and foreign currency transactions

- Monitoring exchange rate exposures and providing strategies to manage currency risk

- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and operational efficiency

What We're Looking For

You'll be someone who can comfortably move between strategic discussions in the boardroom and rolling up your sleeves when needed.

Ideally you'll bring:

- CPA, CA or equivalent qualifications

- Senior finance leadership experience

- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, corporate compliance and financial legislation

- Payroll management experience within a medium-sized workforce environment

- Experience managing financing facilities and banking relationships

- Exposure to international trade, foreign exchange management and global business operations

- Robust leadership and communication abilities

- A practical, solutions-focused mindset
