The Terravias team is a multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy dedicated to navigating complex regulatory frameworks and solving environmental challenges. Operating in Western Australia since 2021, we deliver integrated services across environmental management/ approvals, flora, vegetation and fauna surveys, bushfire planning, and sustainability.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Botanist to Principal Botanist to join our Ecology team, based in our Perth office.

This role is highly flexible for the right candidate. Want to do less fieldwork and focus on leadership and reporting, we can do that! Have a passion for a service area or bioregion and want to make a mark on the local industry, we can do that also. Happy keeping work to Monday Friday and being home every weekend, also cool.

In this role, you will take ownership of project delivery, manage key client relationships, mentor and develop the team, and lead high quality ecology surveys across Western Australia. Working alongside the Ecology Team Leader you will use your professional experience and technical skills to:

- Work with the team and clients to identify suitable survey scopes and prepare well thought out proposals.

- Play a role in allocating work on a day to day basis and support team capacity planning (Principal)

- Lead detailed and targeted vegetation and flora surveys. The majority of our surveys are undertaken in the Swan Coastal Plain or Southwest bioregions, with an expanding portfolio of South Coast, Goldfields, Pilbara and Kimberly projects

- Supported by our in house GIS team, produce vegetation and condition mapping and spatial datasets.

- Undertake flora identification,



taxonomy and (desirably) vegetation statistical analysis (e.g. Floristic Community Type, PATN)

- Prepare high quality technical reports and review and drive improvement of reports prepared by the team.

- Managing project budgets/schedules and coordinating the preparation of deliverables.

- Development and mentoring of team members.

About you:

To be successful, you will have:

- A degree in Environmental Science, Botany or a related discipline; or significant demonstrated experience.

- 5-7 (Senior) 7-10 (Associate) or 10+ (Principal) years relevant experience consulting as a botanist or ecologist, preferably within Western Australia (or demonstrated applicable experience in other locations).

- Strong technical expertise in flora identification and survey methodology.

- Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports.

- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Experience managing project budgets, schedules and delivery performance.

- Experience leading small teams.

- A current C Class driver’s licence and ability to travel when required.

- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
