Job description
- Join the CFMEU Construction & General Division
CFMEU Construction & General Division
The CFMEU Construction & General Division represents over 80,000 workers and is one of Australia’s strongest and most active trade unions. We organise workers, improve safety standards, win better wages and conditions, and lead campaigns that create lasting change across the construction industry.
As the Union continues its reform journey under Administration, we are building a modern, transparent and member-centred organisation ready to return to democratic control. As part of this work, we are expanding capability across the organisation and recruiting talented people in a range of disciplines to help build the future of the Union.
These opportunities are part of the Union’s reform and capability-building program and are intended to create new capacity and fill vacancies across the organisation. They are not designed to replace existing staff or displace current employees from their roles.
About the Role
The CFMEU is seeking talented and committed people with legal experience who want to use their skills to make a difference for working people in the construction industry.
Working as part of a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation, you may contribute to the provision of legal advice and services across a range of industrial, employment, regulatory and organisational matters.
You may assist with legal research, litigation, dispute resolution, governance and compliance matters, advocacy, and the development of strategies that support the Union's objectives and protect the interests of members.
Positions may be based within National Office or one of the Union's branches across Australia; including VIC, TAS, NSW, ACT, QLD, NT, SA, WA.
About You
We are looking for people who:
- Have a strong commitment to fairness, collective action and social justice
- Are motivated by improving outcomes for workers
- Build strong relationships and work collaboratively
- Demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and professionalism
- Thrive in dynamic environments and are willing to take on challenges
- Bring experience, expertise and practical problem-solving skills
- Experience working in the construction industry and/or a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting construction workers will be highly regarded.
If you are driven, collaborative, and ready to help shape a more inclusive and powerful future for our union, we’d love to hear from you.
