As our organisation continues to grow throughout Far North Queensland, we’re seeking an experienced Finance & Payroll Officer | NDIS & Child Safety to become a key member of our leadership team.

This is not a traditional payroll position.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you’ll oversee the organisation’s payroll and day-to-day financial operations while supporting the continued growth of Fall Forward.

You’ll work across both the NDIS and Queensland Child Safety sectors, ensuring payroll accuracy, financial compliance, funding integrity and efficient financial systems.

This position extends well beyond payroll processing.

You’ll contribute to organisational budgeting, financial reporting, funding management and continuous improvement initiatives while becoming a trusted financial advisor to our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

- End-to-end weekly payroll processing





- Interpretation and application of the SCHADS Award

- Processing penalties, overtime, allowances, sleepovers and public holiday payments

- Managing employee leave entitlements

- Payroll reconciliations

- Maintaining accurate payroll records

- Responding to payroll enquiries

Finance

- Accounts payable and accounts receivable

- Bank and credit card reconciliations

- Xero Payroll and Xero Accounting

- Cash flow monitoring

- Financial reporting

- Assisting with monthly financial reporting

- Liaising with the organisation’s external accountant

NDIS Financial Administration

- Preparing Service Agreements

- Creating participant funding allocations

- Monitoring participant budgets

- Processing NDIS invoices

- Liaising with Plan Managers

- Monitoring outstanding payments

Child Safety Financial Administration

- Preparing IPS Pricing Schedules

- Processing Child Safety invoices

- Preparing contingency funding claims

- Processing property damage claims

- Reconciling Child Safety funding

- Monitoring funding approvals

Budgeting & Financial Planning

- Preparing organisational budgets

- Monitoring expenditure

- Producing financial reports

- Supporting financial planning

- Assisting leadership with strategic decision-making

Continuous Improvement

- Reviewing financial systems and processes

- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency

- Supporting audit preparation

- Maintaining financial compliance

- Contributing to organisational growth initiatives

Essential Skills & Experience





- Minimum three years’ experience in payroll and finance

- Demonstrated experience processing payroll under the SCHADS Award

- Strong knowledge of SCHADS Award interpretation

- Experience using Xero Payroll and Xero Accounting

- Accounts payable and receivable experience

- Experience preparing and monitoring organisational budgets

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills

- Excellent organisational and time management skills

- Exceptional attention to detail

- Robust written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to manage competing priorities

- High level of integrity and confidentiality

Highly Desirable

- Previous experience within the NDIS sector

- Previous experience within Queensland Child Safety or Residential Care

- Experience preparing Child Safety IPS Pricing Schedules

- Experience creating NDIS Service Agreements

- Experience processing Child Safety contingency and damage claims

- Certificate IV or Diploma in Accounting and Bookkeeping

- Xero Certification
