Role purpose
To manage all financial operations of the business, including profit and loss, balance sheet, forecasting, accounts receivable/payable, regulatory compliance and pricing.
Key responsibilities
Implement improvements to streamline inefficient processes, enhance productivity, and support continuous operational improvement. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and partner with senior leaders to provide commercial insights, strategic financial advice and actionable insights. Influence the company’s strategy to support profitable growth and enhance the long-term outlook. Prepare budgets, forecasts, financial analysis, and management reports to support business performance and decision-making. Support new business cases, bids, tender responses, pricing decisions, and commercial initiatives Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve profit. Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and cash flow management. Lead month-end and year-end financial processes,



ensuring accurate reconciliations, timely reporting, and the integrity of financial data. Prepare and lodge all statutory financial obligations, including BAS, IAS, payroll tax, superannuation, and other regulatory requirements, ensuring ongoing compliance. Manage payroll operations, workers' compensation, and insurance administration. Ensure robust internal financial controls are maintained and continuously improved. Monitor compliance with the delegation of authority and company policies. Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and other stakeholders to support reporting, compliance, and audit requirements.
Skills & Experience
Essential Relevant accounting qualifications or equivalent experience (CA/CPA preferred) Experience with MYOB Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting Experience in managing accounts, cash flow, and compliance with tax regulations Attention to detail, problem-solving and critical thinking in financial operations Strong communication and collaboration skills Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Work rights in Australia Desirable Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel Proven ability to work within Microsoft Teams
Arrangements
Location – Canberra, working in office Reports to – experienced CFO, ready to mentor a rising star Full time, 37.5 hrs per week – core hours to be performed between 8am and 6pm
