As part of the global Accor Hotels network, Mercure Canberra Belconnen is a stylish 4-star hotel located in the heart of Belconnen town centre. Opened in 2020, our modern 125-room property also encompasses the purpose-built 59 Cameron Ave Conference and Events Centre and direct access to the adjoining Canberra Labor Club.
About the Role
Working from 11pm to 7am, you will be the friendly face guests see when they arrive late, the calm presence when issues arise, and the detail-focused professional who ensures every financial transaction and report is accurate and ready for the morning team. This is a genuinely rewarding role for someone who enjoys working independently and takes pride in keeping the hotel running seamlessly.
Duties include:
• Welcoming late arrivals and managing check-ins and check-outs with warmth and efficiency
• Completing the nightly audit, reconciling all financial transactions and preparing end-of-day reports
• Monitoring the property through regular security rounds to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all guests and staff
• Responding promptly and professionally to guest enquiries, requests and any issues that arise overnight
• Managing emergency situations — including medical, fire or security incidents — calmly and in accordance with hotel procedures
• Maintaining the presentation and cleanliness of the lobby and public areas to our 4-star standard
What We Are Looking For
• Previous experience in a guest-facing role in the hotel or hospitality industry
• Confidence working independently through the night with minimal supervision
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — friendly, professional and composed under pressure
• Experience with Opera Cloud is highly regarded
• Basic accounting skills and attention to detail for night audit
• Current First Aid and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certifications are highly regarded
