Glenellen Poultry Pty Ltd is seeking a Poultry Farm Worker to join our team in Jervois, South Australia. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst contributing to the day-to-day operations of our poultry farm. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the care, management, and welfare of our poultry stock, ensuring our farm operates efficiently and maintains the highest standards of animal husbandry.
What you'll be doing
1. Feeding and watering poultry stock on a daily basis, ensuring all animals have access to adequate nutrition and fresh water for optimal rearing and growth
2. Carry out animal husbandry and biosecurity tasks, including daily mortality checks, washing and sanitation and pest control
3. Monitoring the health and wellbeing of birds, by conducting shed walk throughs assessing poultry conditions reporting any signs of illness or distress to senior staff promptly
4. Prepare bedding and equipment for shed placement and cleanout cycles
5. Assisting with general farm maintenance tasks, including repairs of poultry sheds, fencing, equipment, and farm infrastructure under direction of farm manager
6. Following biosecurity protocols and farm safety procedures at all times
7. Operate and maintain general farm machinery, including rotary hoes, water pumps and cool cells
8. Maintaining records of daily farm activities as directed
9. Assist with Beef cattle operation when required
10. Always operate in a safe and responsible manner, following WHS standards
What we're looking for
1. Previous experience working on a farm or with poultry is highly desirable
2.
A genuine interest in animal welfare and care
3. Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions
4. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards
5. Reliability and a strong work ethic
6. Ability to follow instructions and work independently
7. Positive communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
8. A current driver's licence is preferred
9. Willingness to learn and adapt to farm practices and procedures
10. Experience in the use of tractors and telehandler's
