Case Worker – BASS (Bail Accommodation Support Service) Program

Part Time, 67 hours per fortnight (8 day shifts per fortnight, including every second weekend)

$46.70 + superannuation & salary packaging

The Role

Join our dedicated team at Coast Shelter as a Case Worker in the BASS (Bail Accommodation Support Service) program, where you will provide crucial support to young people aged 12–17 years who have come into contact with police and can be safely supported in the community while on bail. The focus is on crisis stabilisation, safety, connection to supports, and transition to longer-term accommodation and support pathways.

The program aims to:

- Provide short-term accommodation with intensive, tailored support
- Facilitate access to housing, healthcare, education, and other services
- Support compliance with bail conditions
- Reduce re-offending behaviour
- Strengthen connections to family, culture, and community
- Support engagement in education, training,



and employment
- Build independence and capacity for long-term stability

All about You

You are a compassionate professional with experience in youth work or social services. You bring valuable knowledge of court support and the juvenile justice system, understanding the unique challenges faced by young people, especially within First Nations communities. Your strong communication skills and ability to build trust and rapport are essential in this role. You are passionate about supporting young people and are dedicated to making a positive impact on their lives and futures.

We are looking for someone with:

- Minimum Certificate IV or equivalent and significant industry experience
- Experience within a Case Worker position, including:

- conducting assessments
- developing and implementing case plans
- coordinating supports

Strong understanding of issues facing young people, including trauma, substance use, and family violence Proven ability to maintain boundaries and respond to challenging behaviours Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and proactively follow up case management tasks and referrals Strong administrative and computer skills,



including experience maintaining electronic case notes, documentation, and client management systems

For all Youth Program roles, cultural knowledge, authority and expertise including First Nations ways of knowing, doing and being, may be accepted in the place of a formal qualification for First Nations peoples.
