Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Computer and Systems Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing, designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting computer systems, networks, and related infrastructure to meet the operational requirements of the organisation.

The role involves both hardware and software engineering responsibilities, with a strong focus on system reliability, security, performance, scalability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Analyse business and technical requirements and design effective computer and systems solutions.
2. Design, install, configure, test, maintain, and troubleshoot computer systems, servers, operating systems, networks, and related infrastructure.
3. Install, configure, maintain, and support operating systems and application software across Windows, Linux, UNIX, and macOS environments.
4. Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and reliability and identify opportunities for improvement.
5. Diagnose and resolve system, hardware, software, network, and infrastructure-related issues.
6. Configure and administer servers, virtual machines, storage systems, and associated infrastructure.
7. Manage user accounts, permissions, group policies, and system access through Active Directory and related identity-management systems.
8. Configure and maintain networking services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VPNs, and network security controls.
9. Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, endpoint protection, access controls, system hardening, vulnerability management, and security patches.
10. Develop and maintain backup, recovery, disaster-recovery, and business-continuity procedures.
11. Administer and support virtualisation technologies, including VMware and Hyper-V.
12. Configure and support cloud-based infrastructure and services using platforms such as Microsoft Azure,



AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
13. Automate routine system administration and infrastructure tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
14. Conduct system testing, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and technical investigations.
15. Assess existing systems and recommend upgrades, replacements, or improvements to enhance efficiency, security, and scalability.
16. Assist with planning and implementing system migrations, upgrades, integrations, and infrastructure projects.
17. Maintain accurate technical documentation, including system configurations, architecture diagrams, procedures, service records, and troubleshooting guides.
18. Liaise and collaborate with developers, network engineers, IT support staff, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure reliable operation of IT systems.
19. Evaluate emerging technologies, software, hardware, and infrastructure solutions and provide recommendations to management.
20. Ensure IT systems and infrastructure comply with organisational policies, security requirements, and relevant industry standards.

Required Skills & Experience

1. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in systems engineering, computer systems, network engineering, IT infrastructure, or a closely related role.
2. Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, UNIX, and/or macOS operating environments.
3. Sound understanding of networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
4. Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, user access management, and system administration.
5. Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
6. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
7. Experience with system monitoring, backup, recovery, patching, and security-management tools.
8.



Proficiency in scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar technologies.
9. Good understanding of cybersecurity principles, system hardening, access controls, vulnerability management, and data protection.
10. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network, and system issues.
11. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
12. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
2. Relevant professional certifications are highly regarded, including:
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator
- Cisco CCNA
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- VMware certification or equivalent
