Architectural Finishes Preparation Technician

Microcement & Venetian Finishes

We are an established, multi-generational rendering company with over 40 years of experience in the industry, delivering high-quality rendering and architectural finishes across South East Queensland.

We are seeking a reliable and detail focused Architectural Finishes Preparation Technician to join our specialist finishes team.

This role supports the delivery of high end Microcement, Venetian plaster and architectural finishes, with a strong focus on surface preparation, protection and finishing processes.

You do not need to be an experienced Microcement or Venetian applicator. We are looking for someone who is careful, organised, takes pride in their work and understands that attention to detail is critical when working on high end projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Protect floors, cabinetry, tiles, windows, fixtures and surrounding finished surfaces

- Accurately tape and mask areas prior to application

- Prepare work areas for Microcement and Venetian applications

- Apply primers and bonding products

- Assist with and apply base coats where required

- Sand Microcement, Venetian and associated preparation coats

- Complete detailed hand sanding to edges, corners and difficult areas

- Vacuum and clean surfaces between application stages

- Apply sealers and protective coatings

- Remove tape and protection carefully without damaging completed finishes

- Re-protect completed Microcement and Venetian surfaces for following trades

- Maintain clean and organised work areas

- Assist specialist applicators throughout the application process





- Follow specified product systems and application procedures

- Identify preparation or substrate issues before finishes are applied

- Maintain a high standard of quality control throughout each stage

What We're Looking For

The ideal person will be:

- Extremely detail oriented and patient

- Comfortable working on high-end residential and commercial projects

- Able to follow detailed processes and instructions

- Reliable and punctual

- Clean and organised in their work

- Confident using sanders and basic power tools

- Comfortable completing repetitive and detailed preparation work

- Able to work independently and as part of a specialist finishes team

- Conscious of protecting surrounding surfaces and completed work

- Willing to learn specialist Microcement and Venetian systems

Experience in painting, plastering, rendering, sanding, surface preparation, automotive preparation, cabinetry finishing or similar trades would be highly regarded but is not essential.

The Role

This is an important position within our specialist finishes team. Microcement and Venetian finishes are completed on high value surfaces where preparation, protection and attention to detail are just as significant as the final application.

The successful candidate will initially focus on protection, preparation, priming, base coats, sanding and sealing, with the opportunity to develop their skills and progress into more specialised Microcement and Venetian application work over time.
