Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Unit Manager to lead a vital ward within our hospital. This leadership role oversees the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the 30-bed unit (15 of these are CCU). You will work with an excellent and dedicated team to deliver exceptional patient care.
This pivotal role will see you:
- Demonstrate significant advanced clinical experience.
- Account for the efficient and effective management of all human and material resources, demonstrating strong leadership.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the ward, skilled in ensuring hospital policies are up to date with evidence-based nursing care, incorporating quality and risk management.
- Ensure all hospital policies are adhered to, especially recognising and responding to clinical deterioration, invasive ventilation, and care post complex surgeries.
- Organise staff education, ensuring mandatory competencies are up to date, especially ALS training, and overseeing a comprehensive training program.
- Be a positive mentor and provide clinical leadership and support to your team.
- Work with and support other managers within the wider hospital community in achieving excellence in patient outcomes.
- Assist in shaping organisational strategy, improve procedural service provision, and achieve departmental and Hospital strategic objectives.
You will lead a fast-paced department, collaborating with a wide multidisciplinary team, dedicated to ensuring our patients receive holistic, individualised care.
About You:
You thrive on problem-solving, fostering a positive and supportive culture, and providing dedicated and specialised advice to your team members. You will have:
- Current registration with AHPRA.
- Competence in supervising, leading, directing, and mentoring staff to achieve excellent outcomes.
- An ability to build/maintain a positive, respectful team culture.
- A minimum of five years of postgraduate experience in an acute care environment.
- Demonstrated extensive clinical skills and experience within a high-acuity acute care unit. Communicates clearly and collaborates effectively with nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams.
- Effective management of rostering processes and allocation of duties for both clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Post-graduate qualifications in a relevant acute care specialty.
- Integrity, resilience, emotional intelligence and a genuine commitment to excellent patient care.
