About The Role
KAEFER is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the safe, compliant, and commercially successful delivery of major projects across the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Reporting to the Head of Operations – Northwest WA, this leadership role will oversee projects throughout the full lifecycle, from tender handover and planning through to execution, commissioning, handover, and close-out. Predominantly site based with regular travel to Tier 1 Clients across the Pilbara, this role offers the opportunity to drive project performance, manage multidisciplinary teams, and build strong client relationships while delivering successful outcomes in complex mining and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, mobilisation, execution, commissioning, and close-out of assigned projects.
- Maintain accountability for project safety, scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and commercial performance.
- Develop and implement project execution plans aligned with client requirements and contractual obligations.
- Drive project performance through disciplined planning and effective utilisation of Primavera P6 schedules.
- Monitor critical path activities, manage schedule risks, and implement recovery strategies where required.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, revenue, productivity, and margin performance.
- Oversee contract administration, variations, claims, extensions of time, and subcontractor management.
- Prepare and deliver accurate project reporting across safety, financial, commercial, quality, and operational metrics.
- Build and maintain solid relationships with Tier 1 Clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
- Provide visible leadership across site and office-based teams, promoting safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company systems, client requirements, industry standards, and statutory obligations.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate workforce planning, mobilisation, and resource management activities.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 10 years' project management experience within mining, resources, construction, energy, or oil and gas sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in a Senior Project Manager or equivalent project leadership role.
- Extensive experience delivering shutdowns for a contractor (Balance machines would be highly regarded)
- Proven success delivering projects within Tier 1 Client environments.
- Strong practical understanding of Primavera P6 project planning, scheduling, and reporting.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete reporting, cash flow, and commercial performance.
- Strong contract administration experience, including variations, claims, subcontractor management, and extensions of time.
- Comprehensive understanding of project delivery from planning and mobilisation through to close-out.
- Strong client relationship management, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within fast-paced operational environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly and work from Pilbara project sites as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional Project Management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent highly desirable.
- Relevant construction, safety, and site-based qualifications advantageous.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
