Civil Engineer - Roads & Transport | Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast is one of the fastest growing offices in this business, and with Direct Sunshine Coast on the horizon, there's a deep pipeline of transport and infrastructure work heading this team's way.
What they need now is a doer; someone who can pick up a civil component and run with it from concept through to delivery.
You'll be working across geometric road alignments, intersections, and civil infrastructure design, with a collaborative multi-disciplinary team around you and a hybrid work model that delivers work-life balance, so you can enjoy sunnier climes.
Transport for Main Roads (TMR) experience is essential here; if you don't have it, this isn't the role for you. If you do, and you're comfortable fronting up to clients as well as producing the work, please keep reading.
Why make the move
- Long-term pipeline; Direct Sunshine Coast alone represents years of committed transport infrastructure work, so this isn't a role you'll be twiddling your thumbs in six months from now.
- Client exposure; you'll be the face of the civil discipline on your projects
- A growing team on a growing patch; the Sunshine Coast office is scaling up, which means opportunities to take on more responsibility as the workload builds.
- Lifestyle without the trade-off; Sunshine Coast living with a hybrid model that's adaptable.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering end-to-end concept and detailed designs for geometric road alignments, intersections, and civil infrastructure.
- Using 12D and CAD to review engineering models and documentation.
- Applying Austroads and Transport for Main Roads standards to keep projects fully compliant.
- Running quantity take-offs, preparing engineering reports, and contributing to technical specifications.
- Working directly with drafters, project managers, and clients; this is a client-facing role, not a purely technical one.
- Getting involved in minor stormwater and drainage design where projects call for it.
What you'll bring
- A civil engineering degree (or equivalent).
- 5 to 8 years' post-graduate experience in Australian civil infrastructure, with roads and highways as your bread and butter.
- Solid, provable experience with TMR and Austroads guidelines; this is non-negotiable.
- Strong AutoCAD skills; 12D experience is highly regarded, and familiarity with TMR-specific design software will set you apart.
- RPEQ status, or well on the way to it.
- CPEng, or actively tracking toward chartership.
On offer: $120k-$160k TRP depending on experience, plus a seat at the table on some of the Sunshine Coast's biggest upcoming transport projects.
