Arcadia is seeking anAssistant Accountantwith astrong Senior Accounts Payable background, experience inAP automation and process improvement, and the ability tosupport bi-weekly payroll preparation.
This role is a key member of the Finance team, contributing across financial operations, reporting, systems, and stakeholder support.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the Accounts Payable function, improving how things are done, and expanding their exposure across payroll, reporting, and month-end accounting.
You will work closely with the Finance Manager and act as a subject-matter expert for AP, while also supporting core Assistant Accountant responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Senior Accounts Payable (Ownership, Review & Automation)
Own the end-to-end Accounts Payable function, providing senior-level oversight and quality control, and liaising with the offshore accounts payable team
Review and approve invoice coding, approvals, and payment runs to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies
Act as the primary escalation point for AP queries and supplier issues
Lead or support the implementation and optimisation of AP automation solutions, including invoice capture, workflow approvals, and system integrations
Identify and implement opportunities to streamline AP processes through automation and continuous improvement
Prepare weekly cash flow and cash control reports, investigating and resolving variances
Payroll (Bi-Weekly Support & Review)
Assist with bi-weekly payroll preparation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
Review payroll calculations, timesheets, and payroll reports prior to processing
Prepare and post payroll journals, accruals, and month-end adjustments
Support payroll reconciliations and respond to payroll-related queries
Assist with maintaining payroll compliance, documentation, and internal controls
Assistant Accountant – Financial Reporting & Month-End
Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports
Process general ledger journals (daily, weekly, and monthly)
Complete monthly bank reconciliations
Assist with end-of-month close processes
Support budget preparation and monitor expenditure against budget
Contribute to audit preparation, maintain audit-ready working papers, and respond to management and auditor queries
Systems & Process Improvement
Maintain accurate and reliable data across finance systems
Support finance system enhancements, documentation, and user training
Play an active role in finance system implementations, particularly AP-related solutions
Contribute to ad hoc finance projects and process improvement initiatives
About You
You are an experienced Accounts Payable skilled who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes,
and working closely with stakeholders across the business.
You bring a strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the confidence to manage operational responsibilities while contributing to higher-level reporting and improvement initiatives.
You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and are eager to broaden your exposure across payroll and accounting.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
CPA or CA qualified, or actively working towards accreditation (desirable)
Minimum3+ years' experiencein Accounts Payable, Assistant Accountant, or finance operations roles
Demonstratedsenior-level Accounts Payable experience, including review and oversight responsibilities
Experience implementing or optimising anAP automation or invoice workflow system(highly regarded)
Exposure tobi-weekly payroll preparation and payroll reviews
Strong experience with general ledger journals, reconciliations, and month-end processes
Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and compliance requirements
Advanced Excel skills and strong finance systems capability
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
