Macfarlane Generators Pty Ltd is seeking an experiencedDiesel Mechanic/Diesel Fitter for Field Serviceto join our dynamic team on afull-time basis.
Based inClayton South VIC ****, this role is integral to our operations, providing essential maintenance, repair and support services to our clients' diesel generator and engine systems.
You will be the backbone of our field service team, ensuring that our customers receive prompt and professional technical expertise whilst working independently and collaboratively with our workshop and management teams.
What you'll be doing
.
Performing routine maintenance and servicing on diesel generators and engines at client sites and in our workshop facility
Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs to generators and associated components
Conducting fault-finding and troubleshooting using appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools
Installing, commissioning and testing new diesel generator systems and equipment
Maintaining accurate service records, documentation and job logs for all work undertaken
Providing technical advice and guidance to clients regarding equipment operation and maintenance
Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations on job sites
Managing own time effectively to meet service schedules and respond to emergency breakdowns
Liaising with workshop staff and management to source parts and coordinate complex repair work
Maintaining and caring for service vehicles and equipment
What we're looking for
A recognised diesel mechanic or diesel fitter qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience in diesel engine maintenance and repair
Proven experience working on diesel generators and diesel-powered equipment in a field service or mobile service environment
Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems,



fuel systems, electrical systems and generator operation
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, hand tools and specialised diesel mechanic tools
Current, valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively whilst responding to client needs
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical work
Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach
Physical fitness and ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor sites
A commitment to health and safety compliance and best practice in the trades industry
Preferably, experience with generator-specific servicing, load-bank testing or similar specialised diesel equipment
Knowledge of preventative maintenance protocols and asset management practices
