Enhance Community Services is seeking experienced and suitably qualifiedDisability Services Officersto join our growing team across the Maitland, Newcastle and Greater Hunter Region.
This is a full-time opportunity for disability services professionals who are passionate about supporting people with disability to achieve greater independence, build their capacity and work towards their individual goals.
As a Disability Services Officer, you will work directly with participants while also contributing to the assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and review of person-centred supports.

Location:Maitland, Newcastle and Greater Hunter Region, NSW
Salary:$80,000 – $83,000 per annum + superannuation, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Applicable penalty rates, loadings and allowances will be paid in accordance with the SCHADS Award.

About the Role
The Disability Services Officer will work collaboratively with participants, families, support networks and other professionals to identify individual needs and implement support strategies that assist participants to achieve their goals.
The role combines direct participant support with responsibilities relating to participant assessment, support planning, program implementation, progress monitoring, documentation and coordination of supports.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Assessing participants' individual needs, strengths, abilities, goals and support requirements.
Contributing to the development, implementation and ongoing review of individual support plans and person-centred support strategies.
Developing and implementing programs that support participants to improve independence, daily living skills, social participation and community engagement.
Monitoring participant progress against identified goals and documenting outcomes,
changes in circumstances and ongoing support needs.
Engaging with participants to identify barriers or difficulties affecting their independence, wellbeing and community participation.
Supporting participants to identify and access appropriate community, health, educational, recreational and other services.
Working collaboratively with participants, families, guardians, Support Coordinators, allied health professionals, behaviour support practitioners and other relevant service providers.
Identifying changes in participant needs and escalating or referring matters to appropriate professionals where additional support is required.
Implementing Behaviour Support Plans and other participant-specific support strategies.
Applying positive behaviour support and appropriate de-escalation strategies.
Providing guidance to team members to promote consistent implementation of participant plans and agreed support strategies.
Reviewing the effectiveness of participant support strategies and contributing to participant reviews.
Preparing accurate and comprehensive case notes, progress reports, incident reports and other participant documentation.
Supporting participants with appointments, community access, social activities, education, employment and recreational activities in accordance with their individual goals.
Providing support with personal care, medication, domestic activities and daily living tasks where these form part of the participant's individual support plan.
Identifying, managing and reporting risks relating to participant health, safety, wellbeing and service delivery.
Promoting participant choice, dignity, rights, independence and safeguarding at all times.
Ensuring supports are delivered in accordance with the NDIS Practice Standards, relevant legislation, participant plans and Enhance Community Services policies and procedures.
About You
We are looking for applicants who demonstrate:
Relevant professional experience working with people with disability, including participants with complex support needs (Minimum 3 years experience).
Experience assessing participant needs and implementing individualised support strategies or programs.
Experience monitoring participant outcomes and preparing professional case notes, progress reports and other documentation.
Experience contributing to the development, implementation and review of individual support plans.
Experience working collaboratively with families, guardians, allied health professionals and other disability-sector stakeholders.
A sound understanding of person-centred practice, choice and control and contemporary disability support principles.
Knowledge and experience relating to Behaviour Support Plans, positive behaviour support and restrictive practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving, judgement and decision‐making skills.
The ability to identify changes in participant needs and respond or escalat
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility to work within a service providing 24/7 participant support, including weekdays, evenings and weekends where required.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
A relevantDiploma-level qualification or higherin Disability Services, Community Services, Human Services, Social Science or another relevant discipline.
Relevant skilled experience within the disability or community services sector.
Current Australian Driver Licence.
Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance, or willingness to obtain where use of a personal vehicle is required.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or ability to obtain one.
Current Working with Children Check where required.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Completion of relevant NDIS Worker Orientation and mandatory training requirements.
Experience in Supported Independent Living, complex disability support, behaviour support and community-based disability services will be highly regarded.
