Col Wilkie Body Works is seeking a motivated and dedicated Apprentice Panel Beater to join our team in Toowoomba, Queensland.
This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in the automotive trades industry.
As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced panel beaters, learning the technical aspects of vehicle body repair, restoration, and refinishing whilst earning a wage and gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
This role is essential to our operations, as you will contribute to delivering high-quality panel beating services to our valued customers.Key responsibilitiesAssisting experienced panel beaters in the assessment and repair of vehicle body damageLearning and applying panel beating techniques including hammering, straightening, and reshaping damaged panelsPreparing vehicle surfaces through sanding, grinding, and cleaning prior to repairs and refinishingAssisting with the removal and replacement of damaged vehicle body componentsSupporting the application of fillers, primers, and paint under supervisionMaintaining a safe and clean workshop environment in compliance with health and safety regulationsUsing hand tools, power tools, and specialist panel beating equipment safely and correctlyKeeping accurate records of work completed and materials usedAttending training provider sessions as required by your apprenticeshipContributing to a team environment and seeking feedback to continually improve your skillsWhat we're looking forGenuine passion for automotive work and the panel beating tradeAbility to work safely and follow health and safety procedures at all timesWillingness to learn new skills and take on feedback from experienced tradespeopleGood communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a teamReliability and punctuality with a robust work ethicPhysical fitness to perform manual labour involving standing, lifting, and repetitive movementsA valid driver's license is advantageousNo prior panel beating experience necessary – we welcome applicants with enthusiasm and commitment to trainingWhat we offerCol Wilkie Body Works is committed to supporting your development through a structured apprenticeship program.
