About Auto Surplus
Auto Surplus is Australia's leading supplier of parts for veteran, vintage and classic vehicles.

Established in ****, we have over 50 years' experience serving the car restoration and automotive service industry, selling to enthusiasts and the trade nationally — both online and direct.
The Opportunity
This is primarily a sales-management role, focused on running our online sales operation day to day.
We're looking for a hands‐on Head of Online Sales & Marketing to run and manage our online sales and the customer service behind them, and to take ownership of the company's marketing as a significant second string.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll keep our online sales running smoothly across the webstore and marketplaces, make sure customers are looked after from first click to final delivery, and shape and run our marketing — campaigns, eMarketing and social — deciding what we deliver in‐house versus through partners.
It's a broad, high‐ownership role for someone who enjoys both the commercial side of online selling and getting hands‐on with marketing.
You'll lead a small, capable team, take on improvement projects that make the business run better, and work closely with the Managing Director to shape where the online business goes next.
What You'll Do
Run our online sales operation across the webstore and marketplaces — keeping listings, pricing, promotions and merchandising sharp and the channels running smoothly.
Lead and develop a small online sales and customer service team, allocating work, coaching, and acting as their day‐to‐day escalation point.
Keep customers informed and well looked after — from enquiries and order status through to returns, refunds and resolutions.
Manage the eBay channel and our online storefront day to day — keeping listings, settings and content sharp.
Own the returns, RMA and payments process, including PayPal and Stripe disputes and chargebacks.
Own our marketing across the business — plan and run campaigns, eMarketing and social media — and decide what we deliver in‐house versus through partners, managing those partners and their output.
Manage freight and courier partners, assessing value, performance and service levels.
Take on operational and process‐improvement projects that make the business run better, working with the Managing Director.
What You'll Bring
Essential
Experience in a small‐business environment — comfortable wearing many hats, working autonomously and getting hands‐on
Experience managing online sales and customer service in an eCommerce, retail or wholesale setting.
Hands‐on knowledge of online marketplaces (especially eBay) and selling through an eCommerce storefront (e.g. Shopify).
Marketing experience — planning and running campaigns, eMarketing and social media, and directing outsourced marketing partners.
Confidence handling payments, refunds, chargebacks and disputes (PayPal, Stripe).
People‐management experience — allocating work, coaching, and holding a team to account.
Strong customer‐service instincts and a calm head for resolving escalations.
Sound commercial judgement, with excellent organisation and problem‐solving skills.
Desirable
Knowledge of the automotive parts industry.
Experience with returns and RMA processes for physical goods.
Experience leading operational or process‐improvement projects.
Familiarity with freight / courier management.
Applications closeTuesday, 8 September ****.
