Marnong Estate is a winery, working farm and heritage destination in Mickleham, just 35 minutes north of Melbourne's CBD and 15 minutes from Melbourne Airport.
Set across 1,200 acres in the Sunbury wine region, with sweeping views to the Macedon Ranges, the estate surrounds a restored ****s homestead and combines a cellar door, restaurants, function and wedding venues, accommodation and a working Angus cattle farm.
The first vines went in in **** and there are now around 30 hectares under vine, producing cool-climate shiraz, chardonnay and pinot noir alongside Italian varieties including montepulciano, fiano, pinot grigio and Sangiovese.About the roleWorking in the rolling hills of Mickleham on Melbourne's northern doorstep, this hands-on Vineyard Operator role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and being part of a small but agile team.
Reporting to the Vineyard Operations Manager, the position offers the opportunity to be actively involved in a wide range of day-to-day vineyard operations across a young and expanding vineyard.
You will play an important part in supporting overall vineyard productivity and quality and get to a part of an emerging wine brand that is expanding.Key responsibilitiesCarry out day-to-day vineyard worksTake part in the seasonal cycle: pruning, shoot and canopy work, and harvestOperate tractors for slashing, mulching and sprayingMonitor trellising and irrigation, carrying out repairs to the irrigation system when neededKeep the vineyard and surrounding areas clean,



tidy and presentableMaintain accurate records and work to established procedures and best practicePlay your part in a strong, everyday safety cultureJob RequirementsA minimum of one year's experience in vineyard operationsA demonstrated background working in vineyards or a broader agricultural settingThe ability to move between a wide range of vineyard tasks and get through them efficientlySound working knowledge of vineyard practices, including pruning, harvest and vine maintenanceClear communicator, keen to learn and happy to contribute to a close-knit teamA sharp eye for detail and the self-motivation to work unsupervised outdoorsA current C class driver's licence (essential)Forklift and loader tickets and a current chemical users certificate would be well regardedCurrent right to work in AustraliaConsents to a pre employment medicalWe're looking for someone with previous vineyard or agricultural experience, a strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for working outdoors.
