Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes and Azure DevOps
Position Overview An opportunity is available for a Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer to design, build and sustain the cloud platforms and delivery pipelines supporting a major ICT modernisation program.
This hands-on role will lead platform engineering across Azure, implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and strengthen delivery automation through Azure DevOps.
You will also embed security into platform operations, provide senior-level technical support and help build enduring capability through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Key Duties
Design, build and maintain Azure cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
Manage Kubernetes-native workloads across Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure Container Apps.
Provision and manage Azure services, including App Services, Container Registry, Key Vault, storage and data services.
Develop multi-stage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps YAML and GitHub Actions.
Integrate SAST, DAST and container image scanning into delivery pipelines.
Develop modular Terraform configurations using remote state management and policy-as-code.
Implement GitOps workflows and automated rollback capabilities.
Maintain observability through Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Prometheus and Grafana.
Manage access controls using Entra ID, RBAC and managed identities.
Implement network security controls, including Azure Firewall, NSGs, private endpoints and VNet integration.
Ensure platform configurations align with the ISM and Essential Eight maturity requirements.
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 incident triage and resolution.
Maintain infrastructure diagrams, runbooks and disaster recovery documentation.




Mentor team members and facilitate knowledge transfer to operational teams.
Provide advice to senior executives on complex platform delivery matters.
Skills and Experience Required
At least five years of hands-on Azure platform engineering experience, including working within an Azure Landing Zone.
Strong experience with Virtual Networks, AKS, Azure Container Apps, App Services, Azure Container Registry, Key Vault and Azure Monitor.
Demonstrated experience administering AKS and Azure Container Apps, including clusters, nodes, namespaces, RBAC, operators and persistent storage.
Robust Azure DevOps YAML pipeline design experience, including integrated security scanning.
Advanced Terraform capability, including modular design, remote state management and policy-as-code.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm chart development, container registries and image security.
Automation and scripting experience using Python, Bash, Azure CLI and/or PowerShell.
Experience with GitOps delivery tooling is highly regarded.
Exposure to Istio or Linkerd would be advantageous.
Experience with HashiCorp Vault or advanced Azure Key Vault configuration is desirable.
Relevant Microsoft or Red Hat certifications are highly regarded.
Ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment before commencement.
