About the role
The Community Connector is a regionally based outreach role with Satellite Foundation, delivered in partnership with Wellways.
The role connects and engages with young people aged 8 to 25 living in families affected by mental ill-health across Barwon South West, with a particular focus on young people who do not yet see themselves as needing support.

Candidates must be able to work from, or travel easily to, their regional Connect Centre and surrounding communities.
Hybrid working is available.

The roles will help shape a Regional Engagement Framework co-designed with young people and informed by their lived experience.
The roles report to the Manager, Partnerships and Contracts.
What you will do
Map the school, service and community landscape in the region and build the relationships needed for a scalable engagement model.
Test creative, trauma-informed engagement approaches with young people across schools, community spaces and digital channels,

using what works to refine the model.
Support capability building in local services, schools and creative practitioners so trauma-informed practice can be embedded in the community.
Establish and document warm referral pathways into the Connect Centre network so they can be replicated beyond the life of the role.
Capture learnings and data across all workstreams to inform the Regional Engagement Framework.
Escalate safeguarding concerns in line with Satellite Foundation's child safety policies.
Maintain accurate records in Satellite Foundation's CRM and report regularly to Wellways through operations meetings.
The ideal candidate will have
Demonstrated experience working directly with young people in a community, youth work or outreach setting, including trauma-informed practice, building trust and facilitating access to services.
A genuine interest in creative engagement as a way of connecting with young people, including comfort working alongside arts-based programs.
Understanding of the service systems relevant to young people, families and carers in Victoria, and the ability to help people navigate those systems.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with people from diverse backgrounds.
Experience and confidence in building and maintaining community partnerships.
Ability to manage a diverse, independently structured workload in a regionally based role.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and meet reporting requirements, including experience using a CRM.
A current driver's licence and willingness to travel across the region.
Formal qualifications in community services, social work, youth work, mental health or a related field.
Experience designing or delivering training, workshops or capability-building sessions for practitioners or services.
Experience contributing to program evaluation, monitoring or data-informed learning, including drawing out insights to improve practice.
Other experience that would be highly regarded

Experience working in or alongside arts-based programs or creative facilitation.

Proof of the right to work in Australia.
Disclosure of any misconduct or formal disciplinary action by a current or former employer.
Lived and living experience
We value lived and living experience.
Experience of growing up in a family affected by mental ill-health, or of supporting a family member with mental health challenges, would be highly regarded but is not mandatory.
The right person will work respectfully, safely and professionally with young people and families.
Why join Satellite
Do purpose-led work with children and young people who are often missed by formal systems.
Join a values-driven organisation that places young people, creativity, connection and wellbeing at the centre of its work.
