Venue / Duty Manager – Inner West Sydney
Casual position and up to Full-Time hours | Hospitality Industry (Pub Environment)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, hands‐on, and highly motivated casual Duty Manager to join our team in a fast‐paced, community‐focused pub located in Sydney's Inner West.
This is a leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a energetic environment, is passionate about hospitality, and has a strong operational mindset.
You will be responsible for the day‐to‐day management of the venue, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and the effective leadership of staff across all departments including bar, gaming, and food service.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Oversee daily venue operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery across all areas.
Act as the senior manager on duty, making real‐time decisions to manage service flow, staffing levels, and customer satisfaction.
Ensure the venue is presented to a high standard at all times, including cleanliness, ambience, and maintenance.
Manage opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, reconciliation, and security protocols.
People Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors and operational staff.
Conduct pre‐shift briefings and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
Manage staff rosters in line with business needs and labour budgets.
Handle staff performance issues, grievances, and disciplinary processes in line with company policies.
Customer Experience
Deliver and maintain a high standard of customer service across all areas of the venue.
Actively engage with patrons, resolving complaints professionally and efficiently.
Build strong relationships with regular customers and the local community.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, including RSA, ARCG, and liquor licensing requirements.
Monitor patron behaviour and ensure responsible service of alcohol at all times.
Maintain compliance with gaming regulations and harm minimisation practices.
Conduct incident reporting and ensure all risks are appropriately managed.
Financial & Administrative Duties
Monitor and manage daily revenue, including bar, food, and gaming performance.
Assist in achieving financial targets, controlling costs, and minimising wastage.
Complete end‐of‐day reporting and maintain accurate records.
Support stock control processes including ordering, stocktakes, and supplier liaison.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Proven experience in a similar Venue Manager or Duty Manager role within a pub or hospitality environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
Excellent problem‐solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure.
A strong understanding of NSW liquor and gaming regulations.
High attention to detail and organisational skills.
A proactive, hands‐on approach to operations.
Availability to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Essential Requirements
Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) competency card
Current ARCG (Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling) competency card
Previous experience managing gaming operations (highly desirable)
Full working rights in Australia
AUSTRAC AML/CTF certification or willing to obtain prior to employment
