Gilgandra Aboriginal Medical Service (GLAMS) are seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to fill the full time position of Aboriginal Health Worker Trainee.
An Aboriginal Health Worker Trainee is an entry-level employee who works under supervision while completing an approved Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care qualification and developing the skills required to work as an Aboriginal Health Worker. This role assists with basic health assessments, health checks, screening and other clinical activities within the trainee's scope of practice while working in a multidisciplinary healthcare team to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities.
Note: This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Identified Position authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act ****, NSW, which requires successful candidates to provide proof of Aboriginality.
Criteria:
Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with ability to provide proof of Aboriginality (mandatory),
Complete the Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care over a 12-month period
Willing to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, independently, and with strong organisational skills
Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Current nationally coordinated criminal history check, NSW working with children's check and Class C or P2 NSW driver's license.
Additional Factors
Experience working in an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation
Current First Aid & CPR certificates
Candidates must be work‐ready, with all the required pre‐employment checks (police check, WWCC, etc.) available to be submitted directly after the interview.
