Manager – Financial Crime Compliance (Governance & Controls)

Our client, a leading international financial institution, is seeking an experienced Manager – Financial Crime Compliance to join its Legal & Compliance function. This is a second-line risk role within the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team, focused on Governance & Controls across the Australian business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced financial crime skilled looking to step into a broad governance role with exposure to enterprise-wide AML/CTF, sanctions, anti-bribery & corruption, scam risk management and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with senior stakeholders locally, regionally and globally, helping to strengthen the organisation’s financial crime framework while ensuring regulatory obligations continue to be met.

Key Responsibilities

As the Manager within the Governance & Controls team, you will be responsible for:

- Leading the Financial Crime Governance & Controls function across the business.
- Monitoring regulatory developments and assessing the impact of new financial crime obligations on the organisation.
- Coordinating enterprise-wide financial crime risk assessments, including AML/CTF, sanctions and emerging risk assessments.
- Designing, implementing and enhancing financial crime controls and compliance monitoring activities.
- Managing the financial crime controls framework, including ongoing testing and control effectiveness reviews.
- Maintaining AML/CTF policies, procedures and governance documentation to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.




- Managing the financial crime policy and procedure repository, ensuring documentation remains current and aligned with internal standards.
- Acting as Secretariat for the Financial Crime Risk & Compliance Committee, including preparing agendas, board papers, meeting packs and minutes.
- Coordinating internal audits, external reviews and regulatory inspections while managing remediation activities through to completion.
- Overseeing the financial crime compliance training framework, including e-learning, staff education programs and training reporting.
- Preparing management information and regulatory reporting for local, regional and global stakeholders.
- Supporting department operations, including governance reporting, vendor management and other compliance initiatives.
- Managing competing priorities across the Governance & Controls function while providing guidance and support to team members.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

- At least five years’ experience within Financial Crime Compliance, Governance & Controls or Operational Risk gained within banking or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of Australian AML/CTF legislation, sanctions obligations, anti-bribery & corruption frameworks and broader financial crime risk management.




- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise-wide financial crime governance frameworks.
- Hands-on experience conducting financial crime risk assessments and control testing.
- Experience monitoring regulatory developments and translating regulatory change into practical business outcomes.
- Previous experience coordinating governance committees, preparing board or committee papers and managing governance processes.
- Experience coordinating internal audits, regulatory reviews or remediation programs.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
- Strong analytical capability, excellent written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- A proactive, organised and collaborative approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
