Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager will lead, coordinate and support the senior management team.
This is a broad leadership role with accountability across operational, commercial, financial and people performance. You will work closely with experienced managers across manufacturing, wholesale, retail, finance, and marketing, ensuring each area is performing effectively while the business operates as one.
You will bring structure, visibility and accountability to the business while developing the capability of the management team and supporting sound decision making across all functions.
What you will do
Lead and support the senior management team, setting clear expectations and holding managers accountable for agreed results
Translate business direction into practical plans, budgets, priorities and measurable outcomes
Maintain oversight of sales, margin, labour, cost of sales, waste, stock and operating expenses
Coordinate manufacturing, wholesale, retail, online and shared functions to improve whole business performance
Work with managers to drive sales growth, customer retention, pricing discipline and profitability
Strengthen budgeting, forecasting, reporting and financial visibility across the business
Drive improvements in productivity, manufacturing efficiency, yield, stock accuracy, product costing and customer service
Oversee workforce planning, recruitment priorities, performance management and succession planning
Maintain strong standards across Quality Assurance, food safety, workplace health and safety and compliance
Strengthen business systems, data and processes, and play a key leadership role in the current ERP and MRP implementation and its successful adoption across the business
Support planning for future capacity, facilities, major projects and capital investment
Provide the Directors with clear reporting,
recommendations and visibility of business performance and risk
What we are looking for
You will be an experienced senior leader who is comfortable operating across multiple areas of a business and working with specialist managers.
Ideally, you will bring:
Significant senior management experience within a complex operational business
Experience in food manufacturing, meat processing or a related industry would be highly regarded
Demonstrated accountability for financial, operational, customer and people performance
Strong commercial and financial understanding, including budgets, margin, labour, cost control and profitability
Experience leading and developing managers and building accountability within a leadership team
Strong operational planning, analytical and decision-making skills
Experience improving systems, processes and management reporting
The ability to balance day to day business performance with longer term planning and improvement
Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Relevant qualifications in business, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, food production or a related discipline would be advantageous.
