Our client, a highly regarded surgical centre, seeks to recruit an experienced Practice Manager to oversee daily operations for this busy surgical practice, located in the inner east. The practice is long-standing and has enjoyed the support of a very conscientious Practice Manager.

The role involves overseeing the administration team and nursing staff whilst maintaining a close working relationship with the surgeons; therefore, they seek an individual who will utilise well-developed communication skills, coupled with a hands‑on approach to management and operational practice. The position will encompass a broad range of responsibilities, including financial management, personnel management, occupational health and safety (OHS), day-to-day practice operations, accreditation, and the administration and management of fellowship applications.

Days: 9-day fortnight (working between Monday to Friday)

Hours of Work: 8 am – 5.30 pm

Particulars of the position include:

Ability to build and maintain professional rapport with patients, hospital staff, medical equipment suppliers and all stakeholders of the business.

A genuine commitment to excellence.

Computer literacy – ideally Genie and Xero.

Demonstrate leadership capabilities, sound surgical specialist medical practice environment knowledge, and outstanding communication skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously within the business.

Be professionally presented and deliver excellence in customer and stakeholder service.

Use of Xero accounting program

Liaise with the practice bookkeeper and accountant.

Bill payments,



reconciliation of accounts and preparation of monthly reports.

Insurances.

HR requirements.

Organise staff leave requirements and ensure coverage of absent staff is organised.

General health and safety.

Organise maintenance of rooms.

Ordering of stores & consumables.

Organising confidential waste pickup.

Liaise with IT regarding any computer IT issues.

Organise & purchase office equipment & stationery, staff requirements.

Managing escalation queries from patient insurance companies and hospitals

Administration of Fellowship program

Maintaining standard operating procedures manuals

Previous experience in a specialist rooms management role and/or high-level practice administrative position

Experience in financial management, accounting systems such as Xero and reporting processes

Experience in payroll systems and legislated employment conditions.

An understanding of medical terminology, medical and allied health professional organisations and relevant stakeholders.

The ability to demonstrate and encourage leadership and teamwork.

The ability to build patient and stakeholder relationships.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Current and ongoing work rights in Australia.

This is a full-time position offering a 9-day fortnight, with the opportunity to work within a skilled and supportive team, and free onsite parking. The role recognises your contribution through an excellent annual salary package, negotiable for the right Practice Manager. Ultimately, remuneration will be commensurate with the calibre and experience of the successful candidate.
