• Perform scheduled servicing including oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups and preventative maintenance procedures.

• Test and adjust repaired mechanical components to confirm safe, reliable and efficient vehicle performance.

• Use diagnostic computers and specialised equipment to identify faults and assess vehicle operating conditions.

• Inspect braking, steering, suspension and transmission systems and complete necessary mechanical repairs.

• Refer to manufacturer service manuals and technical specifications when completing diagnostic and repair work.

• Assess vehicles for roadworthiness and identify repairs required to meet applicable safety standards.

• Maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs, replacement parts and identified mechanical faults.

• Work closely with smash repair technicians to coordinate mechanical repairs following vehicle collision damage.

• Maintain workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and work areas in safe and serviceable condition.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• Relevant AQF Certificate III with required workplace training, Certificate IV, or equivalent recognised automotive mechanical qualification.

• At least 12 months of relevant motor mechanic experience where experience is relied upon instead of formal qualifications.

• Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing petrol engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and related mechanical systems.

• Proven ability to use computer-based diagnostic equipment and accurately identify mechanical and electrical vehicle faults.

• Strong practical knowledge of scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, engine tune-ups and manufacturer-recommended repair procedures.

• Ability to dismantle, inspect, repair, replace and reassemble mechanical components safely and to required standards.

• Sound understanding of vehicle roadworthiness, workplace safety requirements and applicable automotive repair and environmental compliance obligations.

• Strong attention to detail with reliable communication, time management and teamwork skills within a busy automotive workshop.

Due to the volume of applicants, only those meeting the minimum standards will be considered and only successful applicants will be contacted. Thank you for your interest in the role.
